Concert Choir Tours to New Orleans
We are very pleased to announce that Concert Choir has been selected to participate in the Crescent City Choral Festival in New Orleans. They will work with the outstanding conductor Bob Chilcott and premiere a his latest composition. They'll perform both individually as well as in the massed performance at historic St. Louis Cathedral, and sightsee in the New Orleans area. During the festival, all participating choirs will be housed at the luxurious Loew’s Hotel on Poydras Street, just a block and a half from the French Quarter. If our schedule permits, we are hoping to visit Preservation Hall to hear some Jazz, experience a swamp tour, visit the famous Aquarium of the Americas, enjoy some Cajun food and dancing, and take a dinner cruise on a Mississippi paddle-wheeler!
Ensemble to Visit Austria, Germany, and Slovakia
This June and July, Ensemble will be touring Austria, Germany and Slovakia! We will participate in exchanges with several choirs in Germany and Austria and then we will enter a competition in Slovakia. The tour begins in Meiningen for an exchange with the Max-Reger-Musikschule, whom we have visited in the past. While there, we will have cultural exchanges, performances, and sightseeing. We are also planning a visit to Munich to visit the Munich Youth Choir before traveling to Graz, Austria where we will be hosted by members of the Singakademie Graz, our friends from the Golden Gate Festival. For the final leg of our trip we will drive to Bratislava, Slovakia to participate in the International Youth Music Festival sponsored by the Bratislava Music Agency, where the Ensemble will compete in several categories, including Children’s Choir and Contemporary Competitions.
