Around the World in Song with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra Saturday, February 4, 2012

Young singers from the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir join the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra in an uplifting program of songs that will take you on a journey around the world. And you’ll have a chance to sing, too! Bring your voice and an adventurous spirit to this very special Family Concert.

Doors open 30 minutes before concert time.

Admission is free, but tickets are required for non-members! Reserve online, or call 415.692.5258 to make your reservation by phone. Tickets may also be given at the door, subject to availability.

Song Gathering: The Fifth Annual Festival of New Music for Treble Voices Saturday, March 10, 2012

Location: All Saints' Episcopal Church, 555 Waverly St, Palo Alto

Ancora and Ensemble joins forces with some of the finest women's and children''s choirs in the Bay Area to spotlight new music being written for treble voices. The program will include the premiere of a new work by young Stanford composer PEBCC alum Eric Tuan, the world premiere of Mar eterna by Mexican composer Jose Luis Hurtado, as well as the dramatic Urok by Lojze Lebic, based on an ancient Slovenian spell. Other Performers include the Peninsula Women's Chorus, Volti, and Musae.

Ancora guests with Volti Friday, May 4, 2012

Location: St Marks Episcopal Church, 2300 Bancroft Way, Berkeley

 

The singers of Ancora are guest artists on a scintillating set of Volti concerts.The program features premieres by recent Berlin Prize recipient Ken Ueno and this year's winner of Volti's young-composer competition, Francisco Cortés-Álvarez. The program also includes Cortés-Álvarez's sparkling Galope for treble voices, sung by Ancora.
