Sun: Tour, Park, Shop, Nap & Pirati sa Kariba

Breakfast, meeting and off to bus for brief tour of Belgrade. City has been the meeting ground for East-West, Christian-Muslim, and Catholic-Orthodox and two great rivers, Danube and Sava. We viewed the old city walls and battlements for controlling the river. Off to a large city park, reading, walking, Teddy watched tennis, thought they were good, but not out of reach. Four singers proof read yesterday's journal, quite well I might add. As Marjie held practice for a dance number, a small, appreciative, crowd gathered.

To bus, lunch, shopping, a nap, dinner and to cap off a rest day, "Pirati sa Kariba," in English, with Serbian sub-titles. It was a 35mm film, complete with sound stripe projected on the edge. "What was all that squiggling on the side of the picture?"

There has not been much good shopping on this trip. Stores have been closed when we were on the prowl. Tourist stuff at moderate prices. Don't expect treasures.

Tomorrow is the last concert of the trip and for 19 singers, their last concert with this Ensemble. They will return to join the US half of Project Attacca when the Carmina Slovenica choir comes to the East Bay at the end of October, but that is an add-on with the new Ensemble. Tomorrow is the end of this Ensemble's performance life.  That ending is very present in the thoughts and conversations of many members. Fortunately Dan is making a thorough video record.
