As the winter solstice approaches, celebrate the season with a candlelit program of choral treasures from our four most advanced ensembles. Highlights include Gustav Holst’s fiery setting of an ancient Sanskrit prayer, To Agni; Gabriel Fauré’s ethereal Messe Basse; and a set of mesmerizing hymns by the young Estonian composer Pärt Uusberg. Traditional carols from Ukraine, Germany, and the United States round out this seasonal program.

Explore the diverse cultures of the Pacific Rim from China to Mexico in this musical journey featuring our most advanced ensembles. We’ll hear the world premiere of Reed Criddle’s Quiet Enlightenment, which draws on the composer’s experience as a Fulbright scholar studying Buddhist chant in Taiwan. The Mayan creation story receives a vivid retelling in Mark Winges’s Give Us, and the experience of an atomic bomb survivor comes alive in Eric Tuan’s Nagasaki. Also featured are works by Tonia Ko and PEBCC student Khoa Sands.
