Day 6: Fun in the Sun
Day six of camp was sunny and wonderful! Campers began the day with a pancake breakfast, then had warmups led by Eric. For Ensemble and Concert choir, campers had their first theory lesson, and then rehearsal. Ecco campers had free time in the morning; some hiked the Miwok loop trail, some played ping pong. Everyone reconvened at the dining hall for lunch, with some singers sporting bright and glittering costumes for today's spirit day: spooky vs. space! Cabin Quail won first place for today's spirit day. After lunch, everyone had an hour of rest period, to nap, read, and write letters home. Ensemble and concert choir had their first voice lessons today during their afternoon free time. At the lake, singers had a blast jumping off the dock and cooling off in the water. At arts and crafts, campers made bead animal keychains as well as lanyards and friendship bracelets. Ecco performed a few songs at our evening recital, as it is their final night here at camp. Ecco members Mia, Iain, Gina sang solos as well. Campers then had dinner, and an evening rehearsal. Then, they returned to their cabins for bonding activites led by their counselors. Some cabins played charades, some played mad libs, some played a theater game called active rest, and some played a human knot variation that singers learned from a visiting Georgian choir. Now all the campers are sound asleep, looking forward to another day at camp!
