Hear from our Covid-19 Advisory Committee Members and Choir Parents, Drs. Greg Kurio and Ben Meisel

We thank this committee for providing us with the much needed guidance we need at this critical time.

As we improve our virtual lesson planning and vocal training, we will have guidance from our COVID Committee on what returning to in-person rehearsals will look like. We have no plans to move toward in-person rehearsals at this time. However, we do believe that the time will come when such rehearsals will be possible and even in those early stages, we anticipate that many safety precautions will need to be in place. Some of the vital components that have been surfacing from the data that scientists and physicians worldwide have been collecting are focused on wide-open spaces with plenty of room for social distancing with the outdoors being preferable. If there are to be any indoor activities, they should occur with smaller groups in a very large space with good ventilation and/or filtration. We have been closely monitoring medical and scientific outlets for the latest information and innovations, while compiling lists of materials that we will need for the future to make sure our return to the choral experience that we love is a safe endeavor.

For now, we hope for good health and safety for each and every family in the choir circles - this includes actions that we can all take to protect one another and increase the likelihood of being able to return in-person singing as soon as possible such as:

  • Continuing practices of maintaining social bubbling (limiting your social circle to a consistent group of families who are doing the same).

  • Physical Distancing and Masking when in public areas with others, especially where 6 foot distancing is less likely to be maintained.

  • Obtaining an influenza vaccine at the earliest possible time in order to decrease the likely increased risk of co-infection with COVID-19 while decreasing the chance of spreading influenza which can also be particularly hazardous for some within our PEBCC community.
