DAY 2: A Colorful First Day!
Camp day 2 began as another chilly morning, as campers had their first full day of music-filled fun! After morning wake-ups, we all made our way to a pancake breakfast, where, during the meal, Alexis lost a tooth. Eric led warm-ups - teaching us a special one from our Finnish friends called “meow maria”. Everyone headed to their first theory class, where the campers learned a lot from their wonderful teachers! Then, they headed to their morning rehearsal. After a lunch of turkey sandwiches, we all gathered by the campfire for spirit judging, decked out in our best color-day outfits. Joyful Voices won first place. Special shoutout to Lenna’s multicolored butterfly wings! Second place went to Badger (featuring Audrey and Kerala!) who looked incredible in their colorful rainbow wigs.
We then sang our special choir's happy birthday song to Julia Li! She had a delicious treat and celebrated with her friends. We then shared a calming rest period, and then dispersed for free-time activities! At the arts and crafts table, Joshua shared funny tour memories while Nora B learned how to make a chevron friendship bracelet. For the room decor craft activity, Nora F made a banner for her bunk that looks super cool! JV went boating on the pond with their counselors, under the watchful eye of WCR Lifeguards, followed by an impromptu freeze dance party on the patio. Also at the pond, Ilsa and Angie learned how to make twisty lanyards. Avi and Chloe L. went fishing while groups of campers practiced their dives into the deep end.
During recital, we enjoyed wonderful music, including a flute solo from assistant camp director Will and incredible performances from both counselors Gen and Iain. Dinner was a hit with enchiladas and rice, and rehearsal soon followed, where CC worked on Anchor Bay and Ensemble worked on Ukrainian Carols. We finished the night with counselor bingo, where campers searched around the camp to uncover fun facts about each counselor. It was then bedtime, so all the campers cuddled up in their bunks as their counselors sang them to sleep. Rest well, everyone. We are looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow!
