Spotlight Concert 5: Echoes of Eureka Collaboration

  • Central Chinese High School Victory Hall 829 Stockton Street San Francisco, CA, 94108 United States (map)

Free Admission

The special Spotlight Concert 5 features Echoes of Eureka, a choral opera composed by Eric Tuan that brings to life a pivotal and little-known chapter of California history. Echoes of Eureka tells the story of Chinese immigrants expelled from Eureka in 1885 and their resilience in the face of exclusion and injustice, illuminating both historical and resonant themes through powerful music and narrative.

This performance celebrates an ongoing artistic collaboration and friendship between Vox Aurea of Finland and Ensemble of Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir. In 2025, members of Vox Aurea and PEBCC performed together and toured with Echoes of Eureka, and they reunite at the Golden Gate Festival to continue that shared musical journey in this meaningful community performance.
